Montrose High School had to cancel their Veteran’s Day assembly that was scheduled on November 11th. They want to still honor area veterans and are planning an assembly, “Remember Pearl Harbor Day” on Monday, December 8 at 1:25 pm.
All Veterans are invited to Montrose High School on Monday, December 8th at 1:15pm for a “Remember Pearl Harbor Day” Assembly. We will be honoring all our veterans and active members of the Armed Forces. This will be held in the MHS McMillan gym. The guest speaker will be MHS English teacher and Veteran Mr. James Pavlich. You are also invited to stay after the assembly and attend a social reception with the MHS Student Council immediately following.

THE MONTROSE AREA MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION is seeking entrants for the 2008 Holiday Parade of Lights. This year’s parade, cosponsored by DMEA, will be Saturday, December 6, at 5:00 p.m. This year’s theme is A Magical Musical Christmas! Parade entry forms, with rules and prize information, are available beginning November 3, 2008, at the MAMA office, located in the U.S. Bank building at 1500 East Oak Grove Road. The entry deadline is December 1!! You’ve got the theme! You’ve got the date! You’ve got no excuses! So, start working on your entries now. See you at the parade! MAMA SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR RETAILER OF THE YEAR!
The Montrose Area Merchants Association, Inc. (MAMA) is pleased to announce a new program to recognize outstanding achievement by Montrose retailers, and is now accepting nominations for Retailer of the Year. Criteria for Retailer of the Year are as follows: commitment to the retail sector; longevity; growth; customer service; and commitment to the Montrose community. Nomination forms can be submitted through December 31, 2008, and are available from the MAMA office or a MAMA Board member. Anyone can nominate any Montrose retailer. The Retailer of the Year will be selected by the MAMA Board from nominations received, and will be announced at the annual MAMA business meeting on January 29, 2009. The Retailer of the Year will receive $250 in MAMA Bucks and $250 in MAMA Bucks will be given in their name to the Montrose charitable non-profit organization of their choosing. MAMA SEEKING PARTICIPANTS TO ATTEND SOUTH MERCHANTS COMMITTEE MEETING
The Montrose Area Merchants Association, Inc. (MAMA) is pleased to announce a new South Merchants Standing Committee. This committee was created in September 2008, in response to requested input and participation in establishing the purpose, scope, and goals for the south merchants. The Merchants Committee will work to identify and prioritize the needs of our southern shopping district (from South 12th Street), potential solutions to those needs, and opportunities for collaboration as a shopping district. Committee participation welcomes all who are interested in our southern shopping district and is open to brainstorm and unite for the purpose of improving the district’s business environment.
